How can we create a seamless, mobile-first experience for talents in a fast-paced retail staffing marketplace that enables Dweet to scale?

The Dweet App was designed to solve a recurring problem with communication and engagement between talents, clients, and administrators at Dweet. The communication was fragmented across emails, phone calls, and WhatsApp, leading to inefficiencies and missed opportunities. While our web platform worked for desktop users, the mobile version was not ideal for on-the-go needs of retail workers. The challenge was creating a native mobile experience that prioritises the key features - chat, job applications, and timesheets - while leveraging push notifications and mobile-first design to increase engagement, reduce manual admin work, and keep all communications within a safe, moderated environment.

Framing the problem

Through interviews and on-site research with retail talents, we discovered that the existing job application process was overly complex and unreliable. The web flow required talents to submit detailed future availabilities, which often became outdated as they picked up other work — leading many to bypass the system and contact admins directly via WhatsApp or calls. We also learned that talents preferred to apply only for specific days or last-minute opportunities, especially during busy retail periods, revealing the need for more flexibility in how they expressed interest. Finally, our research highlighted that while clients valued continuity across positions, talents valued immediacy and choice.

Revolutionising Retail by putting talents in control.

Unlike traditional agencies or outdated job boards, Dweet is the most tech-led platform in the industry, built for speed, transparency, and flexibility. Talents can view all available shifts in one place, apply in seconds, and receive real-time updates on their applications and timesheets. They choose who they work for, get direct feedback from brands, and earn rewards for great performance. With in-app chat and dedicated support, Dweet makes it easy to stay connected and easier than ever to get to work. We prioritised the most-used features — in-app chat, My Shifts, My Timesheets, and Apply to Jobs — while keeping secondary features accessible through lightweight web views for efficiency. The in-app chat became the central communication hub, replacing scattered WhatsApp threads and calls with a transparent, searchable system visible to the whole team. Over time, this transformed both sides of the experience: talents gained a clear channel for updates and support, while admins could monitor, coordinate, and scale operations far more effectively.

Find & Apply in Seconds

Talents can quickly explore job opportunities and confirm interest, making applications feel effortless and engaging.

Everything in One Place

Talents can view all upcoming and past shifts in a single timeline, including details about the job expectations and dresscode.

Right Time, Right Prompt

Smart push notifications remind talents when it’s time to take action like checking in, reducing friction and leading the talent to sucess.
